Who's made an impact in risk reduction?
This Award is for companies that have made design changes to their workplace that have resulted in significantly reduced musculoskeletal risk to their employees. This might include a reduction in lifting, pushing or pulling activities. It could mean removing the need for manual handling altogether. Or it could mean a significant decrease in the need for awkward postures or the force needed to use equipment. Let's recognise your contribution to reducing risk!
Criteria
- The award is open to all UK employers from any sector or industry.
- The work should be an example of demonstrable impact in terms of risk reduction.
- The nomination must include before and after images to illustrate the change.

The CIEHF supports this award, working with the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) to judge the entries. The HSE first introduced the award several years ago and now manage the nomination and judging process and liaise with the nominee organisations. This year's winners
There are two winners for this year's Musculoskeletal Disorder Risk Reduction Through Design Award! In the small and medium enterprise category, the winner is MRF contracting for their installation of a tool balancer to their fence installation buggy to reduce risk of injury and exhaustion. In the overall category, the winner is Cranswick Gourmet Pastry Company for their design of a piece of equipment that eliminates manual handling and heavy lifting in part of their pie production process.
